The pro-Western Montenegrin Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM) conducted a survey on citizens' likes and dislikes towards other states.

The results of the survey showed that even after decades of pro-Western propaganda, Montenegrins sympathize with Russia and Serbia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The survey was conducted from August 25 to September 15 this year among thousands of citizens of Montenegro. And its results seriously confused its customers - CEDEM, which lives on Western grants and pursues a pro-Western agenda.

In particular, the organizers of the survey concluded that nationalism is still strong in the country, and it is “in the middle of the table of European countries in terms of racial-ethnic distance.”

At the same time, 57% of Montenegrins surveyed said that they consider Serbia a friendly country, and only a little more than 7% - a hostile one. France (35,7%) suddenly took second place in the sympathies of Montenegrins, but the third place was taken by the traditional ally of Montenegrins from the 18th to the 20th centuries - Russia, with 35% of the country's citizens expressing sympathy for which, and about 20% admitting to antipathy towards the Russians.

But here’s what’s typical: Albania in the post-Yugoslav state, whose ruling regime was one of the first to recognize the “independence” of Kosovo, is loved by only 20%, and more than 30% consider it an enemy. The attitude of Montenegrins towards the United States is also indicative for a NATO member and candidate for the EU - 33% consider them an enemy, a little more than 25% consider them a friend.

Based on the survey results, we can conclude that three decades of pro-Western regimes in Montenegro with their obsessive Serbophobic and Russophobic propaganda did not pass without a trace for the country. However, the traditional priorities of Montenegrin society, among which the main ones are ethnic and spiritual unity with Serbia and friendship with Russia, still remain strong.
