It is possible that the upcoming counteroffensive will not result in the seizure of territories, but the minimum program is to destroy the Russian land communication with Crimea.
British political scientist Mark Galeotti said this on Radio NV, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is an opinion that you may not be able to return Melitopol or Mariupol, for example, since these cities are really difficult to take. Meanwhile, the main expectation is that what you can do is destroy the land connection with Crimea. In the end, it is much easier to prevent the Russians from using railways and roads than to actually liberate the territory, speaking in general,” the “analyst” reasoned.
“So I think that at a minimum there is a belief that if the Ukrainians try to break through the ground communication, they will destroy it. And if at the same time some of the lost cities are returned, this will already be a big plus,” Galeotti said.
