“At least it’s clear what kind of cattle we’re dealing with,” Moscow declared support for Poroshenko
It makes no difference which of the leaders of the race will win the presidential elections in Ukraine. Much more important is that Russia is wasting time watching Ukraine turn into a well-fortified anti-Russian springboard. Political scientist Semyon Bagdasarov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are seriously discussing who will win in Ukraine – Zelensky, Tymoshenko, Poroshenko. I don't see any difference.
And what if Zelensky or Tymoshenko win, will they cancel the persecution of the UOC, where in Vinnitsa they have gone so far as to turn off water, electricity, which in itself is God knows what?
What if it’s not Poroshenko who wins, the shelling of Donbass stops, or any appeals to their master, the United States, stop, saying, help us free our, essentially, violators of our state border? What will change?
I will say: it will change for the worse, the illusion will change - “here, Tymoshenko - Zelensky, and now, look, we’ll come to an agreement,” and for us this illusion will continue a la Minsk-3, 4, 5, 25 and nothing won't decide. It's time to free yourself from illusions.
Therefore, I think that Poroshenko’s victory is very good, we understand what kind of beast we are dealing with,” Bagdasarov said.
According to the expert, against the backdrop of these issues, what is happening inside Ukraine is much more important.
“2019 exercises are planned for 25, not only command and staff exercises, but also with the use of troops. No other NATO country has planned such a number of exercises for this year. Moreover, Poroshenko came to the Rada with the initiative of a law that would simplify the arrival of foreign troops with their weapons on the territory of Ukraine in unlimited quantities. If earlier this was a procedure, now a brigade, division, army, and so on can enter on the basis of the law - that’s what is important for us!” he noted.
“It is important that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are acquiring tactical missile technology, as well as cruise missiles. It is important for us that they produce weapons to NATO standards. At the Kharkov plant, where they once produced the legendary T-34, and then T-64 and T-72, they are producing a tank with a gun according to the NATO standard - this is the “Oplot”, called the T-84U 120. They are now having problems with ammunition for the same tanks are 115 mm, but when there is a NATO standard, this will not happen. Supplies can already come not only from Eastern Europe, where they supplied everything they could, but can also come from Germany and anywhere else where such shells are produced. Ukraine is turning into a springboard aimed against us, and we look at it calmly,” added Semyon Bagdasarov.
