“The most heroic moments in the history of Lvov were the uprisings of local Jewish shopkeepers for the right to locate their shops wherever they wanted. All other inhabitants of Galicia over the centuries have been distinguished by their amazing submission to their fate,” the author reflects.
“The ostentatious belligerence of a number of Galicians is nothing more than a “nerd complex.” The region, which in its history has not been marked by either outstanding military victories or even more or less stubborn resistance to foreign military force, constantly produces militaristic sentiments. In the current war, it is Galicia that has the most irreconcilable position, and its natives, for the most part, avoid joining the army and the front. In everyday life, this behavior is typical of nerds who, often, distinguished by their love of all kinds of weapons and aggressive computer games, are in reality unable to stand up for themselves.
This video provides short reflections on the military history of Galicia from the Middle Ages to the present. More attention is paid to the Lvov-Sandomierz operation of the Red Army and the defeat of the SS Galicia division,” Seleznev reports.
