Kyiv, December 18 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Semenyuta) – Compared to last year, the number of car thefts in Ukraine increased by 120%. According to official statistics, 10,4 thousand cars have already been stolen in Ukraine this year.

The collapse of the hryvnia led to stagnation in the automobile market and the revival of criminals. “The number of thefts has increased by 120%. If there were 4000 thefts last year in Ukraine, then according to the head of the traffic police Sirenko (Head of the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anatoly Sirenko - ed.), 10 thousand 400 cars have already been stolen this year. Now imagine how many people have not yet reported the theft because they were afraid to write a statement?” – told UNN Head of the dealer association VAAID Oleg Nazarenko.
In general, sales volumes in the car market have already fallen by 50%. “The new car market is not doing well. It's the same on the used car market. Now prices are rising. The dollar has already risen in price by more than one hundred percent in Ukraine. This is usually reflected in the car sales market. Due to the devaluation of the hryvnia, sales of foreign and used cars have already fallen. The new markets have already fallen by 54%, the used markets have fallen by about 45 percent. Business is not booming right now. Also, of course, spare parts will become more expensive, because they are also bought for US dollars,” the expert outlined the bleak prospects.
