Oink!: Poroshenko allowed pig farmers not to sterilize manure
Petro Poroshenko signed changes to the law “On animal by-products not intended for human consumption,” which saved livestock farmers from millions of losses, the Association “Pig Breeders of Ukraine” says.

According to the changes made to the law, livestock farmers were allowed not to autoclave manure, which, according to the producers themselves, is a very costly process, and, in addition, negates the value of manure as an organic fertilizer.
“According to expert estimates, the burden of complying with the requirements of Article 15 of the current law on sterilization of manure under pressure would cost the average pig farm of a thousand animals about a million hryvnia per month. In the case of small farms, this could lead to a complete cessation of activity. After all, farmers would be forced to use their assets to purchase expensive equipment for sterilization,” stated the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council.
