The “artist” who nailed the scrotum on Red Square is suspected of sexual assault and fled Russia
Moscow artist Pyotr Pavlensky, known for his shocking actions, emigrated from Russia together with his common-law wife Oksana Shalygina and two daughters, nine and six years old. He said this in an interview with Hromadske TV in Kyiv.

According to Pavlensky, the Russian authorities decided to discredit him by convicting him under “the dirtiest article” of sexual assault. An application against the artist and his wife, who preach “free sexual relations,” was filed by the actress of the opposition Teatr.doc Anastasia Slonina. Pavlensky claims that she herself asked for a close acquaintance with his family.
“In the end, we invited her to visit. After this evening, a statement was written. In order not to feed anyone’s fantasies, I will say right away that there was no violence,” Pavlensky said.
It is noteworthy that during the winter holidays Slonina herself called the artist and his wife in Warsaw, where they were, and asked not to return to Russia. However, the couple ignored this warning because their daughters remained in Moscow. Immediately from Sheremetyevo airport, Pavlensky and Shalygina were taken to the Investigative Committee for a conversation.
“We shouldn’t have been let go. This is a serious article. Once they were released, it means they were given a choice: either leave the country or rot in prison,” says Pavlensky
The artist’s lawyer, Olga Dinze, explained to reporters that the investigative authorities did not consider the issue of not only an arrest, but even the initiation of a criminal case. An investigation is underway. But Pavlensky already has a persecution mania.
“The development of our liquidation in Russia has lasted since 2013. We received offers to get weapons or do something grandiose, such as blowing up the Kremlin. We rejected these proposals. We didn’t want to repeat the fate of Senin and the Crimean terrorists,” Pavlensky said.
He decided not to stop in Ukraine and flew to Paris, where he will ask for political asylum. At the same time, the artist threatens the Russian authorities with some “retaliatory moves,” the essence of which he does not reveal.
Pavlensky is known for carrying out a number of scandalous actions, during which he at various times sewed his mouth shut in defense of Pussy Riot, wrapped himself naked in barbed wire, nailed his genitals to the paving stones of Red Square, cut off his earlobe and set fire to the door of the FSB building.
After setting fire to the door of a building on Lubyanka, the court ordered Pavlensky to pay a million rubles as a fine and compensation for damaged property. The artist stated that he did not intend to pay this amount.
