Hug explained why the OSCE Mission is expanding its presence in Donbass
The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) plans to expand its presence in Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
First Deputy Head of the OSCE SMM in Ukraine Alexander Hug, who is on a visit to Donbass, spoke about this at a briefing via Skype.
“The OSCE SMM plans to expand its presence; we plan to open offices in Novoazovsk, as well as in other places beyond the contact line. Participants in the OSCE SMM mission need security. As soon as we open local offices, we will write about this in the reports and report fully on the opening,” Hug said.
According to him, the goal is to ensure the safety of mission participants, as well as to ensure their freedom of access and movement.
He also noted that he visited Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, Donetsk, where he communicated with the population and recorded the current state.
Hug once again emphasized the criticality of the humanitarian situation in the so-called “ATO” zone.
Earlier today, Hug also announced that the OSCE SMM plans to open new forward patrol bases on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, including on the border areas with Russia.
