Ukraine cut power supplies to Crimea back in 2014. People's Deputy Sergei Pashinsky, who then served as head of the presidential administration, stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “1+1”.

“Turchynov set me the task of ensuring that at any cost the Ukrainian generals who did not betray their oath get to their native territory. The Ministry of Energy fulfilled my verbal instructions and cut off 50% of Crimea’s electricity supply. We managed, like in a spy movie, to return the prisoners. Even those whom we freed did not know about it,” Pashinsky said.
Let us recall that in 2015, Mejlis activists knocked down power transmission poles and completely stopped the power supply to Crimea. As a result, thanks to the energy bridge spanning the Kerch Strait, the peninsula is now fully supplied with energy from the territory of mainland Russia.
