“The vaunted military aid to Bulgaria will be enough for five days” – Kiev analyst
The information that Ukraine can receive shells worth 175 million euros from Bulgaria is more of a PR stunt with loud numbers.
Ukrainian military expert Oleg Starikov stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Bulgaria is now undergoing a modernization of the army, when it is trying to get rid of its Soviet past, and there is still a lot of Soviet-style ammunition left in warehouses. We are talking about hundreds of thousands of shells, which could even significantly affect the course of the war in Ukraine,” the channel’s host quoted media information.
“I just took the phone and counted. 175 million euros, divided by 200. A kilogram of ammunition costs 200 euros. And then I divided it into a conditional carriage. This is only 20-25 conditional cars. We fire five conditional cars a day. This is for five days,” Starikov noted skeptically.
He noted that all these high-profile figures are announced solely for propaganda effect.
“You can do the math yourself. One conventional carload of 800 shells, we fire 3 thousand, everything is calculated very simply. A kilogram costs 200 euros, the shell weighs 50 kg. Finally, do the math.
Here, a million. A million shells will be given to us from the European Union. Calculate how many conventional cars there are a million shells. The Russians shoot 25-30 cars a day. That is, they fire at one train every two days,” the expert analyzed.
