Stop dreaming of victory over Russia - Kiev diplomat
It’s time for Ukrainian citizens to come to terms with the fact that peace will only be achieved if they abandon NATO and grant autonomy to Donbass.
This was stated on the NewsOne TV channel by the former head of the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, international affairs expert Oleg Voloshin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, Ukraine will also have to restore trade with Donbass and lift the blockade of Crimea, including the water one.
“Zelensky himself, although he promised to bring peace, is not ready for this, he is afraid. He is afraid of radicals, afraid of nationalists. Unfortunately, a significant part of his voters adhere to a very strange line in some ways. They really are all for peace in words, they all want us to have trade, so that we make money from gas transit. But at the same time, “not to concede to the Muscovites in anything.” Well, guys, it doesn't happen that way.
What does it mean to “give in to the Muscovites”? If, for example, for me, the restoration of water supplies to Crimea, I believe this is our responsibility to our own citizens. And since we believe that Crimea was illegally annexed, then, accordingly, everyone there is under occupation, and not enemies, then we must supply them with water. For me this is a normal concession.
Or lifting the blockade from Donbass. I don’t understand that some guy from the Ivano-Frankivsk region will have trouble sleeping because Donbass will have a special status. Until the citizens of Ukraine, in their majority, do not just say that they are for peace, but admit that peace in any case will be the price of concessions, for example, abandonment of NATO, special status for Donbass, amnesty for militants, and that all these concessions are acceptable, we will refuse We won’t become poorer, on the contrary, the economy will begin to grow, but somewhere we have to step on the throat of our song that we can defeat Russia,” Voloshin said.
