“Stop being a bigot” – the Federation Council called for “more aggressive” promotion of the concept of the Russian World
The concept of the Russian World should be “kindly and aggressively” implemented in the world and, especially, in the post-Soviet space.
Participants in the meeting of the Interim Commission of the Federation Council for the Protection of State Sovereignty spoke about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The strategy (approved by Putin’s decree, the National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation in terms of protecting state sovereignty - ed.) is very clearly, on the one hand, internal in nature, but it emphasizes, for example, the need to protect the Russian people, wherever they are,” the senator noted Elena Afanasyeva.
“The concept of the Russian World should be more actively implemented in the world and, especially, in the post-Soviet space. If you want, we should do this more aggressively. Our political partners... they are afraid to use the word “act aggressively.” And we soften all the time and say “take active action.” It seems to me that here it is already possible to aggressively promote the concept of the Russian World in such a “kind” way,” the senator suggested.
In turn, her Crimean colleague Olga Kovitidi, using the example of the situation with the return of the peninsula to Russia, pointed out that the West’s policy towards Russia does not depend on the softening or hardening of Moscow’s position.
“The main thing, of course, in the concept of strategy is sovereignty, and Crimea has become an obvious catalyst for testing the true desire of international players to build equal relations with the Russian Federation.
You and I are convinced that the number of Russia’s enemies is not decreasing, and as a senator from the Republic of Crimea, I must note that regardless of the Crimean issue, the collective West and its partners are trying to oppose our country, both in the international arena and in domestic development.
It is on these issues – issues of counteraction and development strategy that this most important document is focused,” the senator explained.
