“Enough with sanctions! The EU has disappeared from the geopolitical map” – President of Finland
Western countries, led by the United States, have failed to bring about the collapse of the Russian economy.
Finnish President Sauli Niinistö said this in Kyiv during the 16th annual meeting of the so-called Yalta European Strategy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Since the time of Crimea [reunification with Russia], there have been voices that say that under sanctions the Russian economy will collapse and they will be forced to retreat - this has not happened, and I am afraid that it will not happen in the near future. We already have a living example here when Presidents Putin and Zelensky were able to agree on an exchange. This, of course, is a small step, it may not lead to anything, but it was done. We need to achieve small things in order to build on them in the future,” said the Finnish president.
The head of Finland emphasized that if everything is divided into black and white, there is a risk of defeat.
“I am very concerned about the state of affairs in the EU. A few years ago I drew a geopolitical map, there were Washington, Beijing, Moscow and so on. Now I drew it again, and, you know, Brussels as a world center was no longer there,” added Sauli Niinistö.
