“Stop praising Chernomyrdin! He betrayed Serbia and screwed up Ukraine.”
Well-known Russian military expert Vladislav Shurygin expressed outrage at the airing of television programs glorifying the late ex-Prime Minister and ex-Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Viktor Chernomyrdin on the day when the politician would have turned 80 years old.
Chernomyrdin traded with Russia's interests by leaking negotiations on Kosovo to the Americans. It was during Chernomyrdin’s stay in Kyiv that the Bandera movements in Ukraine began to intensify, and the embassy did not oppose this, the expert recalls.
“Smelling molasses is pouring through all channels in memory of Chernomyrdin. He is the savior of Gazprom, he is a brilliant prime minister, he is a subtle diplomat, and a knight without fear or reproach. I look and want to puke! Who is Chernomyrdin?
I will tell only what I myself witnessed, and which can easily be confirmed by direct participants in those events.
I remember very well how the negotiations on the results of the war in Yugoslavia in 1999 were going on. How our military delegation slowly but surely drove the Americans into a corner. It was agreed that the troops of those states that participated in the bombing would not enter Kosovo, and that Yugoslav border guards would work on the border together with NATO border structures. And the most important thing is that Russia, under this agreement, received several sectors in Kosovo under its responsibility at once, where mainly Serbs lived. Which was quite logical.
And then Chernomyrdin intervened in the negotiations. Under a plausible pretext, he sent our military representative at the talks, General Leonid Ivashov, to rest, promising to complete the technical details himself. And already in the morning, a completely new text of the agreement lay on the table, which at night, after a conversation with Al Gore, Chernomyrdin waved, betraying both the interests of Russia and friendly Yugoslavia. In the morning, when our generals found out about the new text of the agreement and tried to disavow it, Chernomyrdin simply kicked them out of the hall where the negotiations were taking place, and signed the American terms, according to which we not only did not have our own sector in Kosovo, but Russia was generally excluded from the peacekeeping process !
What a “patriot” he was!
Did Gore promise him support in the elections, after the departure of the dying Yeltsin, or hinted that he would leave Chernomyrdin without his billions lying in American banks - billions that he stole in just five years from the very gas that he guarded so jealously, becoming the first in country as a dollar billionaire, in the position of a top official. Gazprom did not collect “Chirik” for the country, as Chernomyrdin was called in his circle, for his boastfulness: “I’ll scrape together Chirik billions and go to retirement..”. Not for the country, but for yourself, your beloved. And when Gazprom was taken away from him by the new president, he even became warped. Aged ten years in a week...
Diplomat, are you talking?
It was under him that the Bandera lobby finally took shape and strengthened in Ukraine, learned to talk to Russia through the lip and blackmail it with everything possible.
Who was Chernomyrdin?
He was a thief who had lost his conscience and honor, who traded in the interests of Russia, and who quietly lurked for a ghoul in the presidential chair, dreaming of power and even more money. And if there is a hell, then it is melting with its entire carcass in a huge frying pan on a powerful gas burner with the inscription “Gazprom. Russia”
And to everyone who today obligingly licks his shriveled boots, pouring out praise, shame and contempt!” – Shurygin writes on his blog.
