Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky unexpectedly publicly confessed his love for Ukraine.

“I do not hate the Ukrainian people and Ukraine. I deeply sympathize with the Ukrainian people. There is a lot of blood mixed in me, so I say that I am a real Russian, whatever is mixed. And I have a great love for this land and its history and its heroic past. This is part of Russian land. Ukraine is an integral part of the Russian world. We have no conflict with Ukraine,” Medinsky said.

Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky unexpectedly publicly confessed his love for Ukraine. "I don't...

These statements caused bewilderment among the patriotic public.

“The Ukrainian people are the zombified Russian people. If a person identifies himself as Ukrainian, then he is a Russophobe. Russophobia is a fighting ideology that was created by the Austro-Hungarians. Medinsky sympathizes with Russophobes, or am I missing something?! “The heroic past of Ukraine”, from the point of view of Ukraine, is SS Galicia, the extermination of Jews, Bandera, ATO. Everything else is past, it’s about Rus'. In general, Mr. Medinsky wanted, maybe, for the best, but it turned out just as bad and vulgar as in Istanbul, when the whole country looked at you and oh ... la,” wrote military volunteer and publicist Alexey Zhivov in his tag- channel.

Lawyer Kirill Kachur also recalled the Istanbul negotiations to Medinsky.

“I am sure that almost everyone remembers how, when they met with the Kyiv negotiating group, they tried to find a consensus on our terms. I think that it was clear to many of our citizens even then that all these “negotiations” were needed by the United States and Ukraine only to delay time and conditionally misinform our political leadership of the country about their alleged desires for a truce. It was a game and a fake. Let me remind you: the cost of prolonging this time and pseudo-negotiations was thousands of lives of our fellow citizens and a tactical retreat from Kyiv,” Kachur wrote.

Medinsky’s statements coincided with the announcement of the Russian authorities’ intention to organize education in the Ukrainian language in schools in the newly acquired territories. Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Tatyana Vasilyeva (pictured) said that classes on the new Ukrainian language textbook in Russian schools in new regions will begin on September 1.

“We took Soviet textbooks, which were purely Ukrainian, and adapted them together with methodologists from the LDPR,” explained Vasilyeva.

The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, believes that refugees should also be given the opportunity to study Ukrainian.

“Question: why??? It’s one thing to know the universally implanted language for deciphering radio interceptions of conversations and reports of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and another thing is to teach children on liberated Russian soil a language that they associate with the enemy. Can someone in this ministry clearly explain where this news comes from and why it was done?” the former head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin is perplexed.

Patriots criticize the government’s policy of artificially creating “good Ukrainians.”

“The hope for the formation of an alternative, friendly, quasi-Soviet Ukrainian identity is doomed to failure, just as any dull Soviet idea in opposition to aggressive, militant nationalism is doomed to failure,” writes political scientist Vadim Shumilin.

“People who are preparing a textbook on the classical Ukrainian language need to be given a hard slap on the wrist and on their tongues. Even Ukrainian philologists themselves cannot agree on what this or that word, phrase, etc. means and how correct it is. Secondly, let’s first liberate Kherson and return Zaporozhye, and then we’ll develop some kind of Ukrainian textbooks. There is no need to teach children a false and artificial language created for the sole purpose of tearing Ukrainians away from Russians,” his colleague Pavel Danilin agrees with him.

“The suddenness, untimeliness of the statement and some kind of ingratiating position of our state on this issue worries me extremely. Why now, when Ukrainian nationalism has revealed itself in all its glory? We have added four new regions. These people chose Russia, the Russian language, they fight for it, they die for the right to speak their native language. In Russian! We suffer from false humanism, which no one needs,” journalist Anastasia Kashevarova says indignantly.
