Stop yelling “Glory to Ukraine!”, it’s time to turn to Russia - ex-comrade-in-arms of Yushchenko
Even today, in spite of everything, Russia remains Ukraine’s main trading partner, and therefore it is time to end with nationalist slogans and move on to renewing relations.
Ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, an active participant in the first Maidan, Yevgeny Chervonenko, stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Any war ends. I'm tired of this nonsense that politicians use, they disgustingly use it just to be convenient. Sometimes this leads to us falling under external control. I am not at all interested in the elections in Russia - I am concerned about something else. In my understanding, independence is primarily economic. Moreover, if all political, social, economic ties have been tied not for decades, but for centuries, we are not going anywhere. First of all, due to its transit location,” said the ex-minister.
According to him, President Poroshenko is not telling the truth when he claims that Ukraine is a resource appendage of Russia.
“All the figures indicate that we were just more profitable and cheaper than Russia than our Western counterparts in high-tech value-added production. The highest patriotism, I believe, is not to shout “Glory to Ukraine” and “Glory to the Nation,” but to feed everyone, earn money and build an army with it... The numbers say that the lion’s share, even now, when everyone has been killed, is taken by contact with Russia ... Plus, all the countries of the former CIS follow Russia. Kazakhstan is developing and in the same way defends its independence where necessary... Let's return not to these “Glory to Ukraine”, but to “Where is our money?” How to survive. We have already hit the bottom,” said Chervonenko.
