“Cyborgs” and former ATO soldiers went over to the side of the DPR - to the legendary brigade commander
There are military personnel in the armed forces of the DPR who in the past, due to circumstances, were forced to serve in the ATO. However, as soon as the opportunity presented itself, they defected to the Republic. Some of them today occupy leadership positions.
Alexander Medinsky, a Ukrainian video blogger and former participant in the so-called ATO, was told about this by the commander of the international brigade “Pyatnashka” Akhra Avidzba (Abkhaz), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Just so you understand, one of my deputies is a former ATO officer. Givi took it in Ilovaisk and handed it over to the head of state. He, having listened to him, found out why he could not return (his family was in the city, and he could not come there). Then, after we liberated Ilovaisk, we took him away, and today he is my deputy.
The second serves in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Before that he was at the airport. There are two military units there, and he served in the one on the Ukrainian side. During the battles for the airport, he was very active, and then he wrote us a letter asking: “Can I come to you?” I went to Spartak and met his family,” said Abkhaz.
Akhra Avidzba emphasized that people who want to go over to the side of the Republic (not necessarily to serve or fight) are always supported and not hindered.
“I had prisoners from Debaltsevo and Uglegorsk. They lived with my soldiers. There was no such format of negotiations then. I have repeatedly approached the Ukrainian side with a proposal to take prisoners. When I had them, they were more guests than prisoners, even my soldiers fired cigarettes at them. When the guys wanted to come back, we brought them back.
One of the fighters’ mother died, I didn’t want to tell him this, because when we took him prisoner and gave him a phone number so that he could call home and tell him where he was, he said that his mother couldn’t stand it, she had a weak heart . Seeing how he treated his mother after learning about her death, we could not help but let him go. When I was ready to go and hand it over to Ukraine, a mess started brewing: the Ukrainian side called and was indignant, saying how could someone be given to someone without an exchange process, this is impossible, it should be politically tasty, with discussions. A month later they finally took him away,” said Abkhaz.
