Kyiv hopelessly botched the 2020 elections in Donbass according to Ukrainian laws
Without fundamental violations of the Minsk agreements or gross violations of current Ukrainian legislation, holding local elections in 2020 in Donbass is simply impossible.
Aleksey Chesnakov, head of the Center for Political Conjuncture, who is close to the Kremlin, stated this on his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, the new head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mr. Ermak, said that Kyiv has a “clear plan” for local elections in 2020 to be held “across the entire territory of Ukraine, including Donbass.” Ermak found it difficult to explain what this plan was.
It is simply impossible to hold local elections in 2020 in the Donbass (certain regions of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions) without fundamental violations of the Minsk agreements, or gross violations of the current Ukrainian legislation. The timing doesn’t allow it,” the expert emphasized.
“Ermak, out of habit, shakes the air, creating optimistic expectations among the audience where it would be more responsible to admit real problems,” Chesnakov added.
