Kyiv has played it out: Europe is talking about the risks of gas and oil transit through Ukraine
Hungary is not confident in the stability of transit through Ukraine and is ready to take advantage of the opportunities of both the Turkish and South Streams. This was stated today by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban following negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“As for gas supplies, we cannot ignore the question of how stable the gas supply through Ukraine is. We are aware of many uncertainties, so we have always advocated the need to diversify supplies. What would have been in Hungary's interests was blocked by the European Union (gas pipeline "South Stream" - ed.). But we are interested in getting this back on the agenda. We also have capacity in the north, which we are not using now, but if necessary and national economic interests require it, we will buy gas from Russia through the north,” Orban said.
He stated that Vladimir Putin guaranteed gas and oil supplies to Hungary.
“From Hungary’s point of view, the key issue is that the President of the Russian Federation says: in some way, even in zigzags, Hungary will receive the necessary gas and oil. Compared to this, all other questions are technical in nature. South Stream would be in our interests, but this is beyond our competence. “Turkish Stream” interests us, we will take part in it with pleasure. Gas supply to the north is also in our interests if we do not receive gas from other sources,” Orban said.
