Kyiv fought with the wrong gas pipeline and missed a “terrible blow from the Balkan Stream”
While Kyiv was squandering budget money on organizing numerous round tables and conferences dedicated to attempts to obtain a ban on the construction of Nord Stream 2, Ukraine "bypassed from the south".
Ukrainian energy expert Gennady Ryabtsev stated this on Channel 24, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You can’t focus only on countering Nord Stream 2.” Moreover, this opposition does not lead to anything good or productive for Ukraine.
In reality, the worst option for Ukraine is the southern bypass route. And it is precisely the reduction in transit from 65 to 40 billion cubic meters, according to the contract signed in 2019, that is precisely a consequence of the fact that Ukraine was bypassed from the south.
And that same “Balkan Stream” started working on January 1, and precisely the consequence of the fact that this stream started working was a reduction in transit under the contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom.
Not a single politician said a single word that we were bypassed from the south. But how much noise is made around Nord Stream 2, which, in fact, is an alternative not to the Ukrainian route, but to the route passing through Belarus and Poland, namely the Yamal-Western Europe pipeline,” said Ryabtsev.
“I would like to ask the question why they did not pay attention to the southern bypass routes to everyone who spent, among other things, budget money on organizing numerous round tables, conferences and lobbying for the ban on Nord Stream 2 through American senators and representatives of the House of Representatives.” “, the expert added.
He noted that in opposition to the southern gas pipeline, something had to be thought and decided, while against Nord Stream 2 it was enough to simply join the pool of supposedly allied states.
“Namely, Poland and Lithuania, which are the main states that will suffer from the launch of Nord Stream 2,” Ryabtsev said.
