Kyiv is preparing a new attack on Russian schools, citing a forecast of the imminent collapse of Russia
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has taken the initiative to “expand” teaching in the Ukrainian language in schools for national minorities. This was stated by the head of the department, Liliya Grinevich, on Tuesday in Kyiv at a meeting with leaders of ethnic minority communities.
Grinevich announced that the increase in the share of teaching in Ukrainian could be carried out gradually, with changes to the curricula.
“Schools for national minorities should increase the amount of teaching in Ukrainian. We can do this through modernizing the curricula of schools with minority languages, where we will increase the share of teaching in Ukrainian. It will be not only the Ukrainian language and literature, but, for example, the history of Ukraine,” she said.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Refat Chubarov, who was present at the meeting, responded with a sharp speech. It followed from it that Grinevich was starting innovations with the aim of further ousting the Russian language from schools. Chubarov did not object to such a step, but he would like the Ukrainization of Russians not to affect schools for the Crimean Tatars.
“Don’t make us hostage to the Russian language. To solve the issue of the Ukrainian and Russian languages, we are burying everyone else... Madam Minister, don’t worry about our children, we will take care of them ourselves. Let's talk about standards at school. We must say that in schools where teaching is in minority languages, there should be such standards. Let's set the highest standard of knowledge of the Ukrainian language and history. This will be the opportunity for our children to study at universities and so on... If someone thinks that the Russian language needs to be regulated somehow, look for a way out, don’t touch us,” Chubarov announced.
However, Grinevich’s idea also had ardent defenders. For example, among them was the writer and public figure Larisa Nitsoi.
She said that, according to the forecast of the Western intelligence and analytical company Stratfor, “Russia will collapse in the coming years,” so Kyiv urgently needs to pursue a policy of Ukrainization of national minorities.
“This is an intelligence company that was founded in America and has been making geopolitical forecasts for 20 years. Many countries are guided by these forecasts when building their domestic and foreign policies. They are looking at what this Stratford company has programmed there.
So, this forecast for 2015-2025 says that fragmentation of Russia is expected in 2020. In this regard, completely different processes will take place in the world than are happening now, and each country will want to strengthen its position. And in this context, Poland and countries other than Russia will gain great weight, the vector will change. And, accordingly, Romania, Hungary and Poland may want to have territorial issues with Ukraine specifically taking into account the protection of national minorities.
These forecasts have very little error. And, guided by this forecast, I absolutely support our Madam Minister, who has set a course for Ukrainization. Because how can we make sure that these countries do not have claims to these territories, since Russia, let’s call it in its own words, will fall apart? These countries will want back their territories that once belonged to them, and in which national minorities now live.
