Kyiv and Istanbul are in full view - a powerful radar station will be built in Sevastopol
Construction of the Yakhroma radar station will begin in Sevastopol in 2021.
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced this today at an expanded board of the Russian Ministry of Defense, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Start work on the construction of the Yakhroma radar in Sevastopol and separate units for over-the-horizon detection of air targets in Kaliningrad and Zeya,” Shoigu said.
Let us recall that in 2019, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation was ready to place the Soviet Dnepr complex on Cape Chersonesos (Sevastopol, Crimea).
However, later it was decided to install the newest complex in Crimea. The complex will be assembled at one of the factories in Vorkuta, and after testing it will be installed in Sevastopol. There he will be on combat duty.
Moreover, the radar will be part of Russia’s unified system of complexes for the early detection of missiles fired towards Russia by foreign countries.
