Kyiv has chosen a new tactic of confrontation with Russia
The fact that under the new Ukrainian government the process of denunciation of treaties with the Russian Federation has been suspended does not mean that the Kiev regime has decided to move closer to Moscow.
This opinion was expressed in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets by Konstantin Zatulin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs.
“The word “rapprochement” is not entirely appropriate here. The documents that most irritate Kyiv have already been denounced. Breaking even more treaties will jeopardize Ukraine’s national interests. Georgia was previously in a similar situation. She also loudly announced her withdrawal from the CIS and in a whisper asked to maintain the validity of a number of documents that were important for Tbilisi,” the politician said.
According to him, after the defeat of former President Petro Poroshenko in the elections, “Ukraine put its head in order and decided to choose a different path of confrontation with Russia.”
“Kyiv is still hostile to Moscow, but is now abandoning head-on clashes, which so far have not brought it anything good. In particular, he will continue to surround Russia with sanctions and inflict diplomatic damage at every opportunity. Zelensky made his main bet on information warfare, because he believes that he is very good at it. This does not mean at all that the Ukrainian authorities have come to terms with the loss of Crimea or agreed to implement the Minsk agreements. The process of breaking off relations can be resumed at any time if the need arises,” Zatulin emphasized.
As PolitNavigator reported, started by the former Ukrainian government The process of denunciation of treaties with Russia has been paused.
