Kyiv wants to lure Crimea back to the Ukrainian “economic paradise”
Ukraine will be able to “return” Crimea if it turns the Kherson region bordering the peninsula into a successful region.
The head of the Golos parliamentary faction, former propagandist of the Kyiv weekly Zerkalo Nedeli, Sergei Rakhmanin, stated this on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Rakhmanin is confident that if Kherson lives much better than Crimea, the population of the peninsula will want to return to Ukraine, just as the residents of the GDR at one time sought to unite with the Federal Republic of Germany.
“In order to show the obvious difference, we must invest in the development of the territories bordering the occupied territories, primarily in the Kherson region, we must, and this is reflected in our plan, these territories that border the temporarily occupied territories must receive certain preferences.
Additional jobs need to be created there. There must be some preferences, some additional conditions and circumstances in order for more and better development there. One of the reasons why the East Germans were so eager to unite with West Germany was the obvious difference in rights, freedoms, and economic well-being between East Germany and West Germany,” Rakhmanin said.
It is noteworthy that in this case, the politician’s opinion essentially contradicts the Kyiv officialdom, according to which Crimea was forcibly torn away from Ukraine without taking into account the opinions of local residents. In this case, Rakhmanin actually admits that the Crimeans are not eager to return to Ukraine.
