It is necessary to transfer under the control of the Patriarchate of Constantinople not St. Andrew’s Church, as proposed by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, but one of the churches where representatives of the UOC-MP hold their services.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Mosiychuk wrote about this on his Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The politician noted that he has two questions related to the president’s legislative initiative on St. Andrew’s Church.
"1. Why pass an entire law for this purpose, if previously such issues were regulated by Government decisions?
2. Why St. Andrew’s Church, which was now provided for worship by the UAOC, and not one of the churches that is now in use by the schismatic sect of the UOC-MP?” the deputy asks.
His idea was continued in discussions about the recording.
“Why not offer the Ecumenical Patriarch a residence in Kyiv? I was in Istanbul at his residence - it is not very representative, and Istanbul itself is no longer Constantinople. One could suggest Sophia [St. Sophia Cathedral], there is a Metropolitan House there. Over time, it would be possible to move it to the Lavra,” suggested Viktor Khomenko.
The idea was supported by the press secretary of the schismatic “Kyiv Patriarchate” Evstratiy Zorya.
“And call Kyiv “New Constantinople,” suggested a representative of the schismatics.
As an option, they suggested the option of “third” or “fourth Rome”.
“Evstartiy Zorya, Holy Kyiv is the center of the Ukrainian universe,” Mosiychuk added in turn.
As PolitNavigator reported, Poroshenko’s representative said that the famous St. Andrew’s Church in Kyiv, built in the XNUMXth century by order of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, and occupied by schismatics after the collapse of the Soviet Union, will be transferred to the use of the Patriarch of Constantinople.
