Kyiv is getting into a noose: the SBU general threatens the West to “return Ukraine’s nuclear status”
If the terms of the Budapest Memorandum in relation to Ukraine are not fulfilled, the world will receive a precedent after which, on a planetary scale, the reduction and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons can be forgotten.
The former head of the SBU, Colonel General Igor Smeshko, stated this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must now demand peace from the nuclear states - either we develop this Budapest Memorandum further on specific guarantees of the security and sovereignty of our state, or we can begin internal consultations in our country on withdrawing from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and consider the possibility of becoming nuclear state.
Because only nuclear weapons de facto and de jure protect the country’s borders - we have proven this.
In general, I believe that the nuclear states of the world should understand that if they do not deal fairly with Ukraine now, then let them forget that other countries will stop trying to become nuclear states.
Ukraine is the cornerstone. Either Ukraine will receive territorial integrity, guarantees from nuclear states, or forget about the reduction of nuclear weapons and non-proliferation,” Smeshko threatened.
Thank you!
