Kyiv is changing its view of the Transnistrian settlement process
Everyone has long forgotten about the need to resolve the conflict in Transnistria, and the so-called “5+2” format is similar to Minsk in its “no alternative”.
Kiev political scientist Vitaly Kulik stated this at a conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Transnistrian settlement has fallen out of focus, including from the expert community. Since 2015, I no longer remember meetings in the Ukrainian expert community with the participation of Moldovan and European colleagues where options and problems related to the Transnistrian settlement were discussed. This is due, among other things, to the situation in eastern Ukraine and, possibly, a change in Kyiv’s view of the Transnistrian settlement process.
But we know that during her visit to Kyiv, Mrs. Sandu said that there is no alternative to the “5+2” format for settlement. This is similar to the mantra voiced by Ukrainian politicians regarding the Minsk format. But “we have what we have,” as our first president Leonid Makarych said,” Kulik said.
