The President of Ukraine announced the development, together with the United States, Germany, Great Britain, France and Italy, of a “road map” to ensure security in the Donbass in order to create conditions for the start of the political process, but at the same time, representatives of the DPR and LPR were not involved in the development of the document, as envisaged Minsk agreements, Izvestia reports.

At the same time, Ukrainian politicians admit that the republics will not agree to such conditions.
“Initially, Kyiv’s task was not to implement the Minsk agreements, but to imitate this implementation. Kyiv’s main goal is to prioritize the transfer of the border completely under its control. And then he will make vague promises to resolve all other issues, that is, he will suspend the situation. Neither the DPR nor the LPR can agree to such conditions,” Alexander Golub, a member of the Ukrainian parliament of several previous convocations and a member of the presidium of the Union of Left Forces of Ukraine, commented on the situation.
“At the same time, he notes that maintaining the conflict is beneficial to the Ukrainian authorities for several reasons,” the publication reports Golub’s words. – Firstly, the Kiev leadership understands that the residents of Donbass are additional voices in support of the opposition. Secondly, it will be necessary to ensure the implementation of social guarantees. And thirdly, the fading of the conflict will deprive Kyiv of the opportunity to attribute all problems to the war - from corruption to increasing housing and communal services tariffs.”
