Kyiv turned out to be a dump in comparison with shelled Donetsk
The Ukrainian army has indeed significantly increased shelling of the DPR capital, repeating them daily, despite the conditions of the Normandy format and the Minsk agreements.
Kiev lawyer and blogger Tatyana Montyan spoke about this in an interview with ex-political prisoner and journalist Ruslan Kotsaba following her visit to Donetsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I testify that when I arrived on January 24, there was just some kind of extraordinary shelling, which, as the locals already say, has not happened for a long time. That is, we heard even in the center. Locals haven't paid attention for a long time. We sat drinking to my happy arrival in Donetsk, to every woman and so on, with fatalism that it would arrive, it means this is our fate.
And the locals said that yes, it hasn’t boomed like this for a long time. After that it also boomed, but not as cool as on the night from the 24th to the 25th. I personally testify to this, I’ve been in Donetsk since the 24th and hear booms every day. I somehow don’t really believe, being here, that Donetsk is shelling itself. It’s clear who is firing at whom,” Montyan said.
She also asked a rhetorical question, what other percentage of Ukrainians believe in the “insanity of Petsyulka’s fans”, that the People’s Militia of the DPR allegedly shells its own territory.
At the same time, the lawyer noted the cleanliness of the streets of Donetsk compared to Kiev, even in the front-line areas most affected by Ukrainian shelling.
“Today I was near the Zasyadko Mine, and, of course, the picture there is terrible. But even there everything is clean and swept, the streets are licked, Kyiv is just a garbage dump compared to Donetsk. Donetsk is very clean, the public utilities work great. Their janitors and cleaners are simply heroes,” Montyan added.
