Kyiv will be left not only without hot water, but also without cold
Kyiv, August 06 (Navigator, Yuri Kovalchuk) – In Kiev heating mains, hot water pipes pass next to cold water and heat it up, and the lack of hot water supply in severe frosts will lead to a breakdown in communications, and this will already be a man-made disaster, he said on the radio station “Voice” capital” energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky.

“Kyivenergo will have a clear shortage of gas, and in order not to freeze Kyiv or certain areas, they willy-nilly have to reduce the temperature of the coolant. Our heating mains and hot water pipes run next to the cold water and, in fact, heat them up. That is, without hot water in winter, during severe frosts, we may not have cold water. Not only will it not happen, but it will lead to rupture of pipes, that is, a man-made disaster in its entirety.
Therefore, with a high degree of probability we can say that the temperature of the coolant will be reduced, and accordingly, the temperature in the apartments will be reduced. That is, not only in apartments, but also in all institutions, because all this is powered by one pipe, by and large. That is, these include kindergartens, schools, and hospitals... The main question is whether there will be hot water at all. That is, even if there is heating, if we heat the radiators, will there be hot water? In conditions of gas shortages, we understand that they will try to distribute gas at least for the coldest months, that is, December-February,” says Zemlyansky.
The expert also believes that it will not be possible to replace gas with fuel oil due to its high cost.
“As for alternatives, they promise to purchase fuel oil. Most boiler houses that were built at one time had an alternative, backup source of fuel - fuel oil. But if we simply calculate the price of fuel oil compared to gas, we will get a price several times higher,” said Valentin Zemlyansky.
