Kyiv reports on the success of forced Ukrainization
Standards for the share of Ukrainian content on radio are exceeded by an average of 7%, and increasing quotas encourage performers to write songs in Ukrainian. Chairman of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting Yuriy Artemenko announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Over the year we have received dozens of new names. I understand that there is no miracle, but you won’t play old songs all day, you won’t play Vakarchuk all day. Demand creates supply. Bands immediately began to appear through song competitions, festivals... guys from garages who played somewhere in garages or in kitchens began to bring these songs to radio stations. Perhaps the songs were imperfect...
And more and more songs appeared. Those whom we call Russian-speaking artists even began to perform songs in the state language.
Thanks to this norm, the Ukrainian song turned into Ukrainian precisely by the fact of belonging to Ukrainian culture,” the official said.
