Kyiv sends anti-Russian “hawk” to the USA
The new Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Oksana Markarova, who has flown to Washington, is set for a tough confrontation with the Russian Federation.
This is the description Kommersant gives to the new Ukrainian ambassador, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Ms. Markarova, who studied in America and previously headed the Ministry of Finance, represents a new generation of Ukrainian politicians who are committed to a tough confrontation with Russia and closer interaction with the United States, the level of which is considered insufficient in Kyiv. Meanwhile, the new ambassador faces difficult tasks: restoring Washington’s shaky trust in Ukrainian reforms, establishing dialogue with the Joe Biden administration and strengthening bipartisan support for Kyiv in the US Congress,” the newspaper writes.
It is noted that in 2001, Markarova received a master’s degree in international public finance and trade at Indiana University (USA), and in November 2014, at the suggestion of the Ukrainian American Natalia Yaresko, who headed the Ministry of Finance, who grew up in a family of emigrants in Chicago, she joined her team.
In 2018 – 2020, she headed the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance. It is noteworthy that, together with the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, she became one of two ministers who retained a chair in the government after the victory of Vladimir Zelensky in the elections in 2019.
Previously Markarova promised to teach Americans hybrid war.
