Kyiv removed the Red Cross from restoring the bridge in Stanitsa Luganskaya
The Ukrainian government removed representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross from the restoration of the bridge on the border with the LPR in Stanitsa Luganskaya, which it initiated.
This was stated during a briefing by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the LPR, the representative of the Republic at the Minsk negotiations, Vladislav Deinego, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He recalled that the dialogue with Kiev on the restoration of the bridge destroyed by the Ukrainian security forces had been going on for four years.
“Over the previous three years, they did not consider this possibility in principle; the initiative was taken by the International Committee of the Red Cross. But, unfortunately, even the decisions made by the International Committee of the Red Cross were blocked by the Ukrainian side and did not allow their implementation.
The project was agreed upon by us in 2017, but for two years we could not begin to implement this project. Unfortunately, the Red Cross was unable to overcome these problems in communicating with representatives of the Ukrainian leadership, and only after a change in the political leadership of Ukraine was it possible to somehow move forward on the issue of restoring the bridge. But at the same time, the International Committee of the Red Cross was removed by Ukraine from resolving these issues,” noted the head of the Republic’s Foreign Ministry.
Deinego explained this behavior by the desire of the Kyiv authorities to use the restoration of the bridge for their own PR.
