In Kyiv - a third of all Orthodox saints. But there is also a third of all charismatic churches in Ukraine. Kyiv has been decaying for a long time and persistently.
Firstly, it is not a working city, but a city of people of arrogance, greed and exploitation. No, there are still some factories left in the capital, there are still intelligentsia, many priests, there are even monks, but they are in Kyiv - in a downtrodden, downtrodden state. But there are thousands of businessmen, grabbers, schemers, functionaries and politicians. The main thing that is missing in Kyiv is the people of Kiev. Those wonderful, honest “metropolitan provincials,” as my very close person accurately called them.
The historical role of Kyiv has been exhausted. Actually, it was exhausted even during the time of Andrei Bogolyubsky, it was he who removed all the civil strife between the princes, simply depriving Kyiv of its capital status - there was nothing to fight for. There were cultural centers in Ostrog - the stronghold of Orthodoxy, Pochaev, Chernigov, even in Lvov, where the Russian pioneer printer Ivan Fedorov lived and worked. There was, however, a Kiev-Mohyla Academy in Kyiv, but the presence of an academy does not give metropolitan status and the title of a center of science and statehood.
Then there was a capital in Kharkov - already under the Soviets. At the same time, Kyiv’s capital dignity was partially returned by Nicholas I (“the damned strangler Shevchenko”) and fully restored only by the communists, the monument to whose leader they demolished, thus starting the crazy Euromaidan. Probably, the current residents of Kiev in their hearts do not want this capital status...
Actually, there’s no need! Kyiv must go through the entire depth of its fall, and only then will compassion and the desire for sincere unity, and not slogan-advertising, arise in the hearts of Kiev residents; only then will there be enough such people to hold a peace march.
As it turned out, in the now besieged Debaltsevo there has been no hot water for twenty years, there is not even gas everywhere, and in many areas cold water is supplied by the hour, but in Kyiv all this has almost always been the case. The trouble with Kyiv is that it has ceased to be not only a capital, it has ceased to be a city. There is no urban culture and no real Kyiv urban cultural layer. Kyiv lives in closed conglomerates, arrogant and proud, Kyiv is a place of internal earnings, and therefore a place of temporary workers, and also the place where all corrupt officials and exploiters from all corners of the country gather. Now, by the way, elections are being held for one of the bodies of such a collection among all those who profited from the fate of their native land.
Kyiv fell. He fell both morally and spiritually... Soon he would fall physically too - and the blow would be merciless, to the very heart. From Kyiv itself...
