Kyiv planned to crush the Russian Spring from Dzhankoy, Simferopol and Kerch
In February 2014, the Ukrainian military was preparing to attack Dzhankoy, Simferopol and Kerch in order to suppress the pro-Russian uprising in Crimea, but at the last moment the new authorities of the country gave the command “all clear.”
The first commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Krivonos, stated this on the YouTube channel “KRYM”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“The issue of surrendering Crimea should not be considered in a purely military or political sense. Because at certain moments people never received that order. They began to act. Then - lights out.
On February 28 or 27, all Armed Forces were again brought to the highest level of combat readiness, and the sailors of the Ukrainian Navy began to act in accordance with the plan and take their ships to sea.
And, if they had withdrawn them, blocking the ships, which the Russians later did directly in the bay, would have been impossible. Because it is almost impossible to catch and block ships at sea - there are not enough forces and means. But in the evening there was an order: “All clear.” It was about 18 o'clock.
At the same moment, certain of our units and units were already ready to carry out the march to Crimea with certain clear instructions on time: when to enter Dzhankoy, Simferopol, Kerch - this was all clear. People knew their routes. They understood how to do it.
People were already working there directly, our intelligence officers from each of these units. Processed and ready to meet and provide location. In addition, there was support from a certain layer of the local population who could help us implement this. There was no political will.
And then, this inaction very quickly sowed uncertainty in the souls of the military. A military man must strictly follow orders. No one gave the order,” Krivonos said.
“What happened in Crimea is a betrayal. A betrayal that has been in the making for more than one, two, or three years.
If we had shown our strength and ability to take sharp, active actions, then this would not have happened with Donbass,” the Ukrainian special forces soldier concluded.
