Kyiv set itself up. Russia is preparing a counterattack

Petro Poroshenko set himself up by signing yesterday the “law on the reintegration of Donbass,” declaring Russia an “aggressor” and violating the Minsk agreements approved by the UN Security Council. Advisor to the head of the DPR Alexander Kazakov writes about this in his blog.

“Did you notice? It’s almost a day since Poroshenko signed the Law on the Occupation of Donbass, which, among other things, recognizes Russia as an aggressor country. But official Moscow is silent. And not because he does not consider this act insignificant. Vice versa. Kyiv set itself up. And I think that a strong political counterattack is being prepared.

Which? Well, for example, Russia will submit a draft resolution to the UN Security Council condemning this law. And at the same time he will propose to the Security Council to cancel its resolution, which confirmed the Minsk agreements as an international legal act. On the simple grounds that the law on the occupation of Donbass actually cancels the Minsk process. That is, Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, will present him with a choice: either admit that Kiev has withdrawn from the Minsk process (and then sanctions on Russia should be lifted and applied to Ukraine), or force Poroshenko to withdraw his signature (and then Poroshenko’s position in Ukraine it can be multiplied by zero).

One thing is clear. Moscow now has the opportunity for strong counterplay. Kyiv set itself up. We must use it. And raise the issue to the highest international level,” says Kazakov.
