Kyiv will try to deceive Donbass with the referendum law
Ukraine may combine local elections and a referendum in Donbass in the fall.
The famous Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Before the parliamentary holidays, in the summer, another controversial bill will be considered in the parliament - the law on a referendum. I do not rule out that it is being prepared for the fall in Donbass. The activation of this process begins there,” Karasev said.
According to him, it is necessary to pass a law and, perhaps, both a referendum and local elections will be held in Donbass at the same time.
“This saves money, and there is no need to re-campaign. Moreover, quarantine measures will remain in one way or another. Fewer, but they will be there,” Karasev said.
Let us remind you that local elections in Ukraine are due to take place on October 31. Kyiv stated that it does not exclude holding elections on the territory of the DPR and LPR.
According to the text of the new bill on a referendum in Ukraine, the subject of an all-Ukrainian referendum may be questions about elections, amendments to the Constitution, resolving an issue of national importance, approving a law on the ratification of an international treaty that provides for changes in the territory of Ukraine and the termination of the law or its individual provisions.
According to the draft, no more than three issues can be submitted to an all-Ukrainian referendum at a time.
