Kyiv ups the ante: Zelensky announced the return of territories without any conditions
The head of the parliamentary committee on national security, Alexander Zavitnevich, said that the main thing in the strategy for restoring the sovereignty of Ukraine is “the return of all territories occupied by Russia without any conditions,” reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The people's deputy from the Servant of the People stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian Interfax.
“The first and main thing - and the president has spoken about this more than once - is the return of our territories, this is de-occupation, without any conditions. This is our territory, this is Ukraine.
The second is the restoration of borders and Ukrainian control over them. This is not just a disengagement of forces, this is a complete withdrawal of troops so that the Russian Federation and all mercenaries leave there. Holding elections only according to Ukrainian laws and only after the border is ours and when there are no military formations on that territory. And this entire superstructure, so that the so-called DPR and LPR are removed,” the parliamentarian noted, essentially repeating the theses of the second President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma and the current head of state Vladimir Zelensky.
Zavitnevich is also pleased with the level of normalization achieved in the “divorced” sections of the contact line.
“The doctors did not go there before the disengagement, because there was a risk zone there, constant shelling. When deputies went to these areas before the disengagement of forces, people complained that they turned off the lights so that there was no orientation during shelling. People lived in fear. Do you think doctors and ambulances will respond to a call if there is a potential shelling?
And now, after the disengagement of forces, there is no shelling. People see that everything is fine with security, no one is shooting - and everyone began to travel, not only medicine, but also “mobile shops”, some small business started working - something is starting to revive there,” he said.
Commenting on recent harsh statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that Kyiv should conduct direct negotiations with the leaders of uncontrolled territories, the Ukrainian parliamentarian once again repeated Kyiv’s unchanged position.
“Such statements have been made before. The position is not only mine, but that of all our politicians, statesmen, and the president - we do not need to enter into negotiations with them. We, Russia, are an aggressor country and we need to talk with the Russian Federation,” he believes.
Zavitevich is optimistic about the results of the planned negotiations in the Normandy format.
“I don’t really want to make any guesses, but we are all optimistic. We specifically expect peace to come, and our territory to return to us, and people to be reunited, including Crimea, to return - and this is the strategic goal for which we are working,” he said.
However, a number of anonymous telegram channels in Kiev, which are associated with various influence groups in Zelensky’s Office, have already characterized Zavitnevich’s statement as a banal increase in rates ahead of the negotiations planned in Paris in the Normandy format, preparations for which at the level of working groups are now in full swing .
Earlier, Kiev political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko, on the air of the “Signs” program on “First Cossack”, suggested that the information pumping up around the upcoming Normandy meeting currently observed in the Ukrainian media aims to present the outcome of the summit in Paris in such a way that Zelensky returned from there without the expected “party” war” “zrada”, since, according to Bondarenko’s assumption, the agreements signed in Paris will have a different character than is now expected by observers.
