Kyiv proposed to Russia to introduce Ukrainian as the second state language in the Russian Federation

Kyiv, April 04 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Russian authorities must agree to grant the Ukrainian language the status of a second state language on the territory of the Russian Federation. Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“We really want the Russian regions to receive additional powers, we want the Ukrainian language to also be the second state language,” he said, drawing applause from the Ukrainian journalists present in the hall.

“We hope that the rights of the Ukrainian-speaking population will be protected by the Russian government... The Ukrainian community will have rights and will not be under constant pressure from the Russian authorities,” Yatsenyuk added.

In his opinion, the Russian position on the need to federalize Ukraine is unacceptable.

“Russian ideas about federalization are ideas on how to destroy Ukraine. We are grateful to them for their advice. Let them sort out their federalization. No matter how they have questions that Moscow is not Russia. We wish our Russian partners all the best. We will figure out our Constitution ourselves without advice,” Yatsenyuk snapped.

In his opinion, the Russian Federation “robbed” Ukraine in the history of Crimea.

“In our lifetime, we will restore control over Crimea, and those who did this will ask for forgiveness for what they robbed,” Yatsenyuk predicts.
