Relatives of prisoners of war held in Ukraine are afraid to visit the detainees for fear of persecution from Kyiv. They also have no way to even deliver parcels to them.

Olga Kobtseva, a representative of the LPR in the humanitarian subgroup of the Contact Group, stated this in a conversation with journalists, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Relatives cannot visit detained persons on the territory of Ukraine due to the political situation. Persecution continues in Ukraine. People who cross the contact line are detained there for unfounded reasons. There are many facts and examples when a person who went there and has relatives in the LPR automatically ends up on the list of persecuted persons,” Kobtseva said.
Also, the representative of the Republic in the Contact Group in Minsk noted that the relatives of the detainees do not even have the opportunity to give them parcels.
“We can deliver letters there, but, unfortunately, to date we have only been able to deliver parcels to the other side once. This happened with the assistance of the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross),” said Olga Kobtseva.
