Kyiv continues Poroshenko’s policy of foreign policy “default”
Conducted by SBU searches in Hungarian organizations and the scandal with the recording of the performance of the Hungarian anthem by deputies of the Syurt OTO indicate that the current Kiev government has not learned its lessons.
Andrey Zolotarev, head of the Third Sector Center, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“With the Hungarian anthem, it happened as it often happens with us - they threw yeast into the toilet. Another scandal has been added to the searches in Hungarian organizations. Moreover, everything was sucked out of thin air - after all, they sang the Ukrainian anthem there, and only then this prayer, which is the Hungarian anthem. Now both sides expect dirty tricks from each other.
Relations are not improving, as [Ukrainian Foreign Minister] Kuleba recently claimed, but on the contrary. It is obvious that the policy pursued by Poroshenko destroyed that fragile balance when, de facto, in the Vinogradovsky and Beregovsky districts of Transcarpathia there was cultural autonomy of the Hungarians, which no one touched in exchange for the political loyalty of the Hungarians. Now the new government has added problematic issues.
I think that everything that is happening will definitely be interpreted as forceful pressure, and retaliatory steps will follow from Budapest. The policy of foreign policy “default” pursued by Poroshenko continues. We are consistently worsening relations with our neighbors. Although this is not as critical as in Armenia, which found itself in a completely hostile environment, it still resembles the national dance “rake running,” the political scientist said.
