Kyiv is provoking an environmental disaster in the Donbass to get money from the West
The Ukrainian government deliberately does not take any measures to prevent an environmental disaster in the territories of Donbass under its control, in order to subsequently receive financial assistance from the West for its elimination.
Political scientist Denis Denisov stated this during the round table “Environmental risks emanating from objects in Ukrainian-controlled territory” held in Lugansk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, during the hostilities, the Ukrainian side carried out mothballing of industrial enterprises in the Donbass, which was questionable from the point of view of environmental safety.
“It’s not us, not the international monitoring agencies, that still cannot conduct a full study of these objects in order to really identify the most likely threats, on which, among other things, the fate of people living in the territory of the LPR and DPR depends,” he said.
The expert is sure that Kyiv thus wants to provoke an environmental disaster in the region.
“In this regard, I personally have the impression that Ukraine is waiting for some kind of catastrophe to happen in the Donbass, on its territory, in order to take advantage of this situation and beg for the next tranches, the next money, which, as we understand, will be stolen anyway,” – said Denis Denisov, adding that the fate of people means nothing to the Ukrainian authorities.
The political scientist recalled that the DPR and LPR earlier during the Minsk negotiations proposed to Kyiv to organize joint monitoring groups to monitor the situation at dangerous enterprises in Donbass.
“There has not yet been a single agreement on the part of Ukraine to create monitoring groups to monitor the situation and problems with key facilities that are causing an environmental disaster,” he noted.
