Kyiv sabotages the Red Cross initiative to deliver pensions to residents of the LDPR
Lawyers of the International Committee of the Red Cross studied Ukrainian legislation and did not identify any contradictions for the implementation in practice of the pension payment mechanism proposed by the organization.
The head of the ICRC delegation, Alan Ashliman, stated this during a meeting of the working group at the negotiations in Minsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In response to this, the negotiators from Kiev were only able to invite Eshliman to a conversation with their leadership, which once again demonstrates the attempts to politicize the issue of pensions and social benefits by the Ukrainian side, as well as the presence of a real opportunity to resolve this problematic issue in the legal field of Ukraine,” she noted. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPR Natalya Nikonorova.
The DPR Foreign Ministry also noted that at the meeting, the Ukrainian delegation again stated its readiness to soon announce its official position regarding the practical mechanism for paying pensions to sedentary citizens, previously proposed by the ICRC. At the same time, the coordinator reminded of the need to provide it in writing.
“This is not the first time that representatives of Ukraine have promised to make public their official position on a pressing social issue. We expect that this time and this year the statements of the Ukrainian side will not diverge from real practical actions,” Nikonorova concluded.
Let us recall that earlier the ICRC expressed its readiness to deliver pensions to residents of the Donbass republics, subject to the consent of all parties to the conflict and the corresponding political decision of the Kyiv government.
