Kyiv itself will give Novorossia Mariupol to save gas
Donetsk residents are returning home. That is, of course, they are returning to all the cities of Donbass, but I know better about Donetsk, in which, out of a million “pre-war” ones, today, according to the acting. Donetsk mayor Konstantin Savinov, has approximately 750 thousand inhabitants. Progress – three weeks ago there were two hundred to two hundred and fifty thousand less. The merchants of the Southern Bus Station have a new business - the steps of the underground passages on Kommunard Square are littered with bags with which previously only goods were transported from Turkey. Everything is logical - people come, and when transferring to their cities, they may need new bags.
Donetsk is empty. On the streets in the center, during rush hour, there are almost no people or cars, almost all the shops are closed, and there are no open cafes in sight. Children's playgrounds, of which there were a great many built before the war, are empty, especially in the central part of the mining capital. Water flows by gravity, hot and cold water is supplied under pressure only from five to seven in the evening, respectively. True, everything is in order with electricity, gas and communications. And yet they come back. Why?
Of course, many simply have nothing to live on in the coastal villages of Azov, where families with children have gone. Secondly, the time has come to return to work after prolonged vacations. But in general, naturally, the Donetsk people were eager and eager to return to their hometown, having heard that there had been some kind of truce, that there was less shooting. A house is a house. And they are not stopped by closed cafes and shops, nor interruptions in water supply, nor volleys at the airport and on Azotny, on Rutchenkovka. What confuses the stores most of all is the fact that there is practically no business in the city, but everyone hopes that somehow it will be formed, as long as they don’t shoot.
This “didn’t shoot” contains the deep meaning that the Donetsk people, as the heirs of people who experienced worse things, are ready to withstand any everyday stress, but with the life and health of their loved ones... there can’t even be a hint here. On social networks, Donetsk residents (I’m sure that Luhansk, Gorlovka, Enakievo, etc. also have this) started several unique flash mobs, the goal of which is to survive in a foreign land and support those who remained in their hometowns under fire Ukrainian artillery). Usually people name 5 things they would like to do when returning to Donetsk. The author of these lines, frankly speaking, was confused when the baton was passed to him in such a flash mob, he could not imagine something special, and although, using his imagination, he came up with something, the main thing for me and my family was just to return . To Donbass, to Donetsk. Home, to yourself...
God knows how many more trials await the people of Donetsk and all residents of Donbass. Some of them (financial, economic, cultural) are still hidden in the darkness of times and omissions of politicians. One of them, however, is already clear. The autumn rains and winter cold are approaching, and Donetsk utility workers still do not have a clear idea of how they will get out of the situation. The same Konstantin Savinov says that to ensure the heating season in Donetsk, he and his people need at least two months of silence. Railway workers say approximately the same thing. So far, they provide only half of the required coal for heating plants (CHP) in the region; in addition, many boiler houses, especially large and new ones, need and can be converted - switched from gas consumption to coal and fuel oil. Fortunately, many of them were once created as such “hybrids”.
But, of course, we cannot do without gas. It will be needed both for thermal power plants and, to an even greater extent, for enterprises. This will be especially relevant when the metallurgical giants of Mariupol return to the control of the DPR, and the chemical industry of Severodonetsk, Rubezhnoye and Lisichansk to the control of the LPR. It will not be easy for Ukraine to find this gas; perhaps, due to this circumstance, Kiev will be ready to get rid of metallurgy and chemistry, and try to transfer it and the huge housing stock of Mariupol, Kramatorsk and other industrial cities of the region to the power of the “republicans” before the cold weather, thereby preserving meager gas reserves for the survival of Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa and Lvov with Kharkov. The Donbass republics of New Russia will have one hope left - help with cheap gas from the Russian Federation.
But in addition to energy resources, Donetsk and Lugansk will face a lot of problems in the very near future. Let's just list a few of them: destroyed road and seriously damaged railway facilities, dozens of blown-up bridges and overpasses, the emergency condition of the Seversky Donets - Donbass canal, water pipelines and water pipelines, critical damage to gas mains, completely broken logistics of freight transport and trade, flooded mines, disruption of exchange labor resources, a severe management crisis. And this is not to mention such basic troubles as lack of finance, broken economic ties, lack of orders at enterprises, and pharmacological collapse.
The saddest thing in all this is that Donbass itself will not get out of troubles in a war, this is already clear, everything has gone too far, Ukraine, even if we assume that it will be able to leave Donbass in its arms, will simply not be able to find money for restoration.
The main hope is for Russia. The fact that Moscow will not leave Donetsk and Lugansk, despite Western sanctions and the threat of introducing new ones.
