The Kiev newspaper “Zerkalo Nedeli” came out with such a hysterical statement.
According to the publication, in December 2014, the Lugansk branch of the Concern of Radio Broadcasting, Radio Communications and Television (RRT) refused to move from Lugansk and establish its work in the Ukrainian-controlled territory of the former Lugansk region.
After harsh statements from Moskal, the branch moved to Lisichansk, and its head, Vladimir Ulezko, was fired “for cooperation with the separatists.” However, it soon became clear that this was only a fraud on the part of Gennady Moskal.
“In fact, only a legal re-registration of the structure took place; Ulezko went on sick leave, then took a leave of absence and remained at his post. And the entire branch (administration, technical services, accounting - more than 40 people) did not even think about leaving Lugansk,” notes the Mirror of the Week article.
Last week, Gennady Moskal again put forward an ultimatum - the branch’s employees should be disconnected from the power supply by June 12, stop sending signals and disable the concern’s equipment on the territory of the LPR and move to Lisichansk. However, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, which includes RRT Concern, stated that the implementation of such a decision is impossible for technical reasons.
“As the State Service explains, the disabling of RRT facilities in the occupied territory, firstly, will lead to a significant reduction in the broadcasting area of the entire Lugansk region, including settlements controlled by Ukraine. Secondly, RRT facilities ensure the work of mobile operators and Internet providers, thanks to which “the possibility of independently informing the population about current events remains,” ZN reports the explanations of Kyiv officials.
At the same time, the publication emphasizes that all Ukrainian television channels and radio stations (in analogue mode) have long been switched off, and their place has been taken by Russian television channels and the local channel “Lugansk-24”. Employees of the Luhansk branch of RRT switched cables and redirected satellite dishes from Ukrainian to Russian satellites. Now 16 analogue and 27 digital Russian TV channels are broadcast from Lugansk, while Ukrainian channels are switched off.
