Kyiv seeks to put Odessa residents behind bars - otherwise Parubiy will end up in the dock
The acquittal of the Kulikov Field activists in Odessa is a one-time failure of the Ukrainian judicial system. The authorities will try to put Maidan opponents behind bars. After all, if the residents of Odessa are found innocent, the current leaders of Ukraine will have to answer for the tragedy of May 2, 2014.
Political scientist Denis Denisov told PolitNavigator about this.

“From the very beginning of the process it was obvious that he was sewn with white thread. It was impossible to bring any serious charges against these people. Many international organizations spoke about this, in particular the UN Commissioner for Human Rights,” Denisov said.
He believes that there is a critical interest of the authorities in throwing Odessa opponents of the Maidan behind bars, which is why the SBU has already brought new charges against Sergei Dolzhenkov and Yevgeny Mefedov right in the courtroom.
“New trumped-up charges were immediately brought forward. There is no evidence, but people will be behind bars again. As we know, if in Ukraine there is nothing to imprison a person for, he is imprisoned for separatism.
I think that the judicial machine will not fail the second time, because the Ukrainian authorities are very interested in having a guilty verdict. These people will be designated as guilty, because the real culprits are now sitting in comfortable offices,” Denisov said.
