Kyiv is massing troops in the southern regions, expecting a Russian invasion
Ukraine is strengthening the security of critical infrastructure facilities in the Kherson and Nikolaev regions, fearing a possible attack by the Russian army.
The commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Naev, told Ukrinform, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He commented on Ukraine’s plans to build up the group in the Kherson and Nikolaev regions in connection with with information about a possible Russian invasion in order to gain control over the North Crimean Canal.
“Indeed, such information was passed, but we had already carried out such events in advance. We have planned to strengthen the security of critical facilities. In particular, this applies to the pipeline of our Dnieper water to the temporarily occupied territory. We have strengthened all these facilities – both security and defense – and are also carrying out certain counter-sabotage and counter-terrorism measures,” Naev noted.
He added that both the military and other components of the SBU security sector, as well as the National Guard, police and units carrying out intelligence activities are involved in these activities.
