Kyiv secretly recognized Putin's election victory
The Ukrainian authorities, taking into account the position of the West, did not risk recognizing the presidential elections held in Russia as illegitimate.
Political scientist Alexey Yakubin said this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The authorities, in general, secretly recognized the results of the elections in the Russian Federation, with the exception of Crimea, despite the rhetoric that we heard a week ago - that, well, we do not recognize. Did you admit why? Because Western countries recognized it, there was a call from Washington on this issue. I'm not even talking about Twitter Trumpand where he clearly wrote in black and white that he congratulated Vladimir Putin, who won the election race,” Yakubin said.
As PolitNavigator reported, the representative of the President of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada Irina Lutsenko explained, why the parliament did not recognize the elections in the Russian Federation as illegal.
