Kyiv threatens Russia with the “Sentsov Act”
Ukraine is updating its sanctions policy towards the Russian Federation.
The special representative for sanctions policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Alexei Makeev, writes about this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in the Kiev online publication Zerkalo Nedeli.
According to him, Ukraine’s goal should be the introduction by the West of new personal sanctions against Russian officials, restrictions on Russian aircraft and ships entering Crimea, as well as the final abandonment of the Nord Stream 2 project.
In addition, the article states that it is planned to “create in Ukraine, following the model of the American Magnitsky Act, its own Ukrainian Sentsov Act - a procedure for imposing sanctions and further prosecution of foreign officials by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.”
Also, the Ukrainian diplomat could not resist making a jab at certain Western politicians.
“Today we ask our international partners, politicians and “Putinfersteers” in individual Western countries: how many more Russian aggressions, Novichok poisonings, interference in elections, murders in the centers of your capitals are needed for you to finally understand that the Kremlin regime is not a friend and not a partner, but a real threat?” Makeev is indignant.
According to him, the authorized pressure will continue until Ukraine returns Crimea and Donbass.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier in Ukraine admitted that Western sanctions do not have an impact on Russia, whose companies operate successfully abroad.
