Kyiv can no longer sell its version of “Russian aggression” to the West
Anti-Russian tendencies have not completely taken root in the Ukrainian people and have not become irreversible.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta by the Chairman of the International Committee of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Konstantin Kosachev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The senator drew attention to the fact that the anti-Russian trend in Ukrainian politics did not arise today, but during the time of President Yushchenko, and currently there is a repeated attempt to bring Ukraine closer to the West.
“I have a feeling that it has not taken root in the Ukrainian people, has not acquired an irrevocable character. I know that both inside Ukraine and outside it, including European countries, Ukraine’s European neighbors, there is a feeling that the current stage, the current trends in the development of Ukraine do not meet either Ukrainian interests or the interests of pan-European cooperation. This dispute or quarrel between Ukraine and Russia obviously now irritates most European countries,” the politician said.
At the same time, he admitted that there has not yet been any progress regarding the Crimean issue, or in issues related to the situation in south-eastern Ukraine, where the Russian Federation still has very serious disagreements with the West.
“But in terms of Ukraine’s endless complaints that it can’t do anything because it is being attacked and killed by neighboring aggressive Russia, changes have definitely taken place in this part. And it is now extremely difficult for Kyiv to sell this version of events to the West,” Kosachev emphasized.
As PolitNavigator reported, The West is scared by the prospects Ukrainian default.
In addition, Spiridon Kilinkarov, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of previous convocations, said that with the current Ukrainian government, neither the West nor the Russian Federation there will be no negotiations to establish peace in Donbass.
